I'm not a native English spaeker, i hope you'll undestand my English.

I modeled an interior design but i don't have any experience in rendering with Mental Ray ( photons, Global Ilumination ).
I made a basic render in mental ray with bad results.
I want to make a good render ( without textures ) in order to appreciate the modeling.

I'm sending in the link below a photo of my basic render, and some print screens of the configuration of render and materials.

The Link : http://ar.geocities.com/nunalp3d/Mental_ray1/mental_ray.htm

It would be great if someone with experience in Mental Ray can help to guide in order to do a good configuration of mental ray so as to have a quick quality render ( without textures ) and have the possibility to appreciate the interior design modeling.

Perhaps i'm asking too much but if it is posible i'm sending in the link below the .ZIP maya file of the modeling, perhaps anyone with experience can download configure the mental ray ( explain a little ) and upload the file so as anyone whose starting with Mental Ray can have a start point.

The .ZIP Maya file link is : http://ar.geocities.com/nunalp3d/32.zip

Thanks for your time.

first off, forget photons and global illumination. You will get better results using final gather. It looks like you're using the digital tutors dvd. Don't they cover rendering in the tutorial? Either way, set up your lights, turn on mental ray and final gather and do some test renders. From this point just adjust your materials and lights until you achieve something you like. Also, higher final gather rays will produce better results but come costly at render time.

Search for rendering with mental ray and final gather and you'll find a lot of tutorials. I know when I first started experimenting with mr and fg I found some nice tutorials on 3dtotal.com

Thanks for your time, that's write i'm using Digital Tutors modeling interior design, but the rendering tutorials comes with another module, i don't have them yet.
The video tutorials are really great, of high quality.

I'm going to put hands on it and thanks for your recommendation.

Are you sure FG only is better

No way to say that, a combination of GI and FG is not worse than FG muliti bounce, and it may save more time than FG only

No way is better, it depends
