Thought that I would drop in and say this is very exciting. I have an image in mind for this and will hopefully have my concept artwork done this weekend.
The hardest part is getting what is in my head out of there into a form that others can look at.
Looking forward to viewing what others have done already tonight once I get home.

I know my sketches are not great, but it does show the idea that I am going for. The Alien has the Human by his hand in an effort to save him.

In this first WIP, I am now creating the landscape needed for my image. This work is done in Vue 6 Pro. I have at this point the base of my landscape with it's texture. At this point I have 10 Procedural Terrain Pieces to create this look. From this point I need to add the foliage
and atmosphere effects.

Thanks Gnomeish! I shall try to stay awake, hard thing to do with all the other work that I have to do. But for this I shall! Hope to have a new update soon on how the scenery is coming along. Thanks for taking a look!

In this image, Atmosphere effects have now been added, plus I have added trees to the terrain. I added a stand-in ship to see how the lighting is working.

I like your your choice of concept! The Sun ships are indeed facinating! The terrain is coming along and looks more developed.

Here is where I a currently at with my ship that the alien and human are flying, or at least trying to fly while falling out.

I managed to get the ship built and now it is inside Vue6 for this render.

Hey Ku, your image is coming along nicely. Have you got a start on your characters yet?

Here is what I am working on at the moment. I am attempting to get the Alien rigged so that I can pose and place him into the ship. I then need to work on the human that he is hanging onto.

Here is the Human in progress, I've created his mesh hair in Mudbox. I have just finished his boots inside of XSI and am now going to finish modeling his jumpsuit.

In this image I've now got the characters in place, I will have to do some adjusting of the positions yet but they are almost there. Then the ship needs proper positioning yet but things are now coming together. This is the newest render in Vue.

With this render, I did a lot of changes. I decided on a stormier sky, got rid of the floating trees, and reworked the mesh of the human. For the ship I added the smoke and jets flames. Just need a few tweaks and I will be happy.

This image was created in XSI and Vue6, characters and ship are XSI and the scenery was done in Vue6.
The story behind this image is, on a routine mission the human captain and his alien copilot encountered a problem during a storm. The ships engines are in trouble and the ship filled with smoke, they blew the canopy away but as soon as that happened they hit a downdraft and the captain was thrown from the ship. Luckily the copilot was able to grab hold with one of his arms, thusly extending the Hand of Life.
