The Blood-Cells was no Big Deal, i build this in XSI.
A simple Particle system with Object Instances deformed on a Curve.
That means the Particle Animation follow the Curve.

I think i am done with Base Topology in XSI, next Step ZBrush for some Tweaks.

My first Choice was to Render it in XSI with 3Delight because Fast SSS, MotionBlur and Displacement.
After some Tests i turned back to Mantel Ray and used Fast SSS Skin + Displacement + Bump + Normalmap.
I Playing currently with Shaders.

Rendered in XSI with MR.
Very heavy Displacement, every Character
split in Different Passes.
Out of Memory!
Perhaps too much Contrast.

Hey mate, they're pretty creepy, as already mentioned :D

Long here and everybody are hard-working!
Some shots from my Renders.
The Sequence with Erth and A-Bomb-Explosion is 2500 Frames Long and rendered wit FG+SSS+Displacement+Image-based-Light = my longest Render Time ever.
The Sequence with Nature and Snake is currently in work.

I have some trouble to upload my flv.
I uploaded now only the Image that works ok.
If i upload both the uploader shows my on end flv 100%, but i become no ancer the shi is complete!!!

Any ideas?

Hey Freebug,

I like your short because it has some strong themes....kinda like grzesiekj's because it puts us in the shoes of an alien (or in your case, three aliens) and gives us an idea as to what it would be like to study the human race from a distance.

I think the ethereal feeling you gave the opening scenes works well (I like that chair that builds up around the alien in the non-descript environment)...the sound design is especially strong. The bug-like behaviour of the aliens also help to give them that genuine sense of curiosity.

My main comment is the length of the montage scene...it's not visually boring because there's lots of stuff being shown, but it's thematically boring because it's easy to "get" what's going on in the first few seconds...but it goes on for quite a while. If I had any suggestions that could be implemented easily before the deadline, it would be to cut that shot down.

Best of luck in the contest :) Yours is definitely one of the stronger pieces....it's obvious a lot of work went into it.

But i wanted to build a tension.
