I really like how the music syncs up with it in the very beginning. Very inventive breakdown, too. I dig.

I agree. I think the train scene is my favorite part of the reel. Hopefully someone from NY calls you. Good luck.
the beach part was my favorite, i did not know what where composited untill the breakdown, very nice work and good luck with the job search.

Good job man. You've come a long way with this. I really do love your breakdowns.

Very nice buddy. I especially liked your method for breakdown. It made it so much more interesting to have the objects moving in with the tracked text and all, well done. My biggest complaint is probably that i wish it were longer. Maybe another shot for some variery. Maybe something with some atmopheric effects like snow, or rain, lighting, something a little more turbulent and actiony would have really show some range. But again i think the way you presented your material is what is most attractive about it. Its a strong reel for a student. You shouldnt have a hard time finding a gig. Congrats.

Great reel Mr. Harris,
I would love to see some more, and can't wait untill there is more to see.
Good luck.

The timing and edit added so much to the reel. The fact that you've treated your breakdown like a comp itself I think is very important. My only critique is that you may want to try adding another comp with a different color pallette. Like everyone else was saying, I don't think you're going to have a hard time finding a job. Keep me posted and good luck! :D

Nice tracking on these shots. What software did you use? On the beach scene, I think the shadows on the CG elements might have been a bit too sharp. Also, the chairs and umbrellas seem to have the same subdued color(s) that it makes them somewhat too similar, and thus they end up standing out, rather than blending into the background. Overall, nice work, though.

Great reel Jacob. I'd have to agree that your presentation on the breakdowns is awesome. I'm glad you put in the effort to make that happen. Good luck with the job hunt, but I dont think you'll have a problem finding work.

Pooyag - The plates are stock. I don't own a helicopter :)
webhead - I tracked with SynthEyes. I agree, the shadows may be a bit sharp. And the beach objects could pop more. It's tough to get that balance of fitting in the scene and still standing out :)
thanks to everyone else for the kind words.

Hey Jacob,
Compositing aint my area of expertise, but I'll give you a crit.
Train looks good.
Beach needs work... yeah, the shadows, as mentioned above, should be soft and have some color to them. They look opaque gray now. You need to decide whether its a cloudy or sunny day... the original plate is kinda ambiguous, huh? On the issue of the subdued colors, I think those two lilac umbreallas stand out as too saturated, but the other stuff is fine.
And it really screams for another sample to make a nice round three. Doncha think?

nice reel. Just wish it was at least another shot longer, maybe even 2.
On your website you talk about yourself in the 3rd person! It reads a bit funny. Just change it to first person. Much more friendly and personal.
