I want to draw two families from very different origin, but with some same customs :P
Luck to all! I will really enjoy this challenge...this time i've full time to spent on it!
Again...sorry my english!

I found a problem with the human girl, she was looking like the daughter of the man and not her pregnant wife.
I add a child near and i think that with these changes the image works slightly better.
For the color I will try some kind of rockwellian style...i hope :)

Really nice layout for the peice, looking forward to seeing it progress.

Exceptional draftsmanship and great concept!

A bit of color before go to sleep.
Very monochromatic at the moment, i will put some saturated color to the alien.
In personal works I'm not use to do studies or previews of color...i like to try over the painting.
Thanks for the comments! Good luck to all!
Edit: ArtRage for pencils (first time i used it, an amazing free software!) and photoshop 6 whitout special brushes for color...old school digital paint?

Oh man! That’s such a fantastic concept, that it has literally retarded my imagination lol now all I can come up with is humans pinching alien’s chicks at different heights and stages of pregnancy hahaha
well played good sir!
This is so cool, the idea is great and you've managed to capture the rockwell humour as well as rendering style. Very much looking forward to the complete picture.

Your not a beginner ! I like your style. Human man looks like 50's advertising, as Gil Elvgreen drawing, or Joyce Ballantyne,...

I like this one. I have a question, is this traditional pencile/watercolor work, or digital(and if it's digital, is it painter or ps)? Those brushe strokes are nice
I realy like your facial expresions, and emotion you are looking for.

Hi, i use, ArtRage for the pencils, and photoshop 6 (yep 6...don't ask :) ) withuot special brushes. I'm trying to be carefull with the detail level without lose a bit painting effect...it's gonna be hard...
Thanks to all for comment.
Next will be a mayor update. Because in this stage all is just fill zones and paint and paint.
04-17-2008, 05:14 PM
Wonderful work! I wanted to reply to your thread long time ago.
I truely admire how you handle skin tones on the characters, your color palette reminds me of Normand Rockwell, one of my favorite painters.
Also, I loved your piece MUmorning, I wish I could have that cute coffee machine too!
Good luck for this challenge, I am looking forward to the progress!
04-17-2008, 05:17 PM
