Hey,

Below is a link to my first attempt at creating something in Flipbook. It still need a little bit of work.
So far I am loving this software!

Ok so I think I am slowly starting to get into the swing of things with Flipbook. The second path I did on the spacing exercise was a lot more fun to work on. It's so great to see what your animation is going to look like so fast.

I spent about an hour and a bit working on this extended version of the timing and spacing tutorial and overall I can say that this traditional approach is heaps of fun (so far).

http://www.avneriginal.com/blog/2008/04/07/some-more-flipbook-goodness/

I do seem to have a bit of a problem though; whenever I am trying to export a .MOV file from Flipbook, the software crashes and I am forced to quit and restart it again.
Did anyone come across the same problem? How did you go about fixing it if you did?

I would appreciate any kind of information on how to fix this cause its extremely frustrating to export them image sequences and taking them into After Effect every time I am trying to preview my work.

Man, I am loving this stuff! Flipping is so much fun :-)

Itís pretty amazing how much you get out of doing things the traditional way. If there is something missing or not right, you can pick it up straight away.

Although there are still a few still I am slowly getting used to, this work flow is starting to work for me, slowly but surely. On top of everything it really encourages me to think about everything, poses, arcs, overlaps, squash and stretch, the lot!

Here is the revised timing and spacing test I started a few days ago. I am sure this test is not perfect but I think itís slowly coming together.

The more I spend time working in Flipbook, the more I realize and understand how hard this animation business actually. Itís funny cause since I decided to embrace Jasonís work flow, it feels like I want to spend as little time as possible in Maya.

The main problems I have are my terrible drawing skills, it seems like itís taking me forever to get things right in terms of proportion, squash and stretch. The other thing I am struggling with is the fact I donít feel like I am utilizing the flexibility flipbook offers to the fullest extant, but I guess this comes with practice (poses and shapes mainly).

Hi again,

Today while I was working I set down and tried to take notes about my process while I was having a second go at creating that bouncing golf ball.

Here is the link, I would love to hear what you have say so please shoot me an email or leave a comment. The purpose of this thing is to learn a thing or two about spacing as I feel I can improve this fundamental skill in my work.

Thanks heaps for all the support.

Hi guys,

Just a quick one to let you know I started a new Flipbook test. This time I am having a go at animating a pendulum, with overlap and follow through.

Hey there,
I started another test, this time I am practicing drag, follow through an overlap. This is the first part of the test, in the second I am intending to animate the ball jumping across the screen.

I want to invite you all to check out the latest test I started working on, well I started a couple, but this one is going to be some sort of an ongoing thing about pose.
This is definitely one of things that need to be constantly pushed and explored in animation, so I figured, why not starting now?
Every few days I am planning to upload a bunch of quick rough sketches I did on the way to work, it's amazing cause everyday I see people doing the same action, waiting for the tram, but each and every single one of them is at a different pose.

http://www.avneriginal.com/blog/2008/05/02/pose-test-part-one/

Check it out and tell me what you think, any feedback is welcome and appreciated.

p.s.
I know I should do a lot more of those, much much more!

Hey there,

After the first angry walk experiment, I learned that the energy of the walk wasnít really angry enough. Some of the suggestions I was given were to make the character stomp a lot more to show the temper in the walk. Here is what I have got after the second pass.

Hi there guys,

How's it going?

Been a little while since I posted here hey, I have been a little busy at work so it was sort of like a race to catch up with everything.

I had some spare time during the weekend to get started on the JRA jump in perspective. I must say it demonstrate really well the concept of opposite actions, I found this tutorial extremely useful and it helped me to delve more into it.

The link below has the flipbook I did for it. Please bare in mind that I am intending to tweak it a little bit so it will work in a sequential order with the rope swing test I did a while ago (link attached too).
