hi,
suddenly we get news(today) that we have to set up 21 morph targets by monday based on a seperate(diffrent vertex count/topology) model provided in a max file .

besides just dooing the damn thing and burning the midnight oil any clever suggestions to save time...plugins ???.

i was hoping max would let me choose a morph target regardless of vertex mismatch so may be i could tweak the misbehaving verts.

or try to drive the deformation of the new model based on the older one...kinda blend between the original as a rough pass and tweak the rest.

any ideas ??? scripts, plugins ???...of course this is for next time the same problem comes up

thanx

Basically you're screwed, UNLESS you're a very good scripter. In this case you might want to check John Burnett's (http://www.footools.com) Bind point set of script helpers. It will allow you to bind points on your original mesh to the new one. But it has no U.I. of its own, though, and can only be accessed through maxscript. If you can make any sense of the script documentation he provides (I can't), then you might be able to pull it off without having to redo everything.

Good Luck

Well actually, Martin breidt wrote a interface for bindpoints, check it out here...
http://www.breidt.net/scripts/index.html look for wrapdef

Good luck!

what about this? maybe it'll help...

Morpheus 3.x Downloads: 317
Creates morph targets for meshes of similar topology regardless of vertex/face counts. Perfect companion for Ishani´s Mix or MAX R3´s built-in Morpher plugin.

Morpheus is interesting, but only runs in max3. Also it pushes the mesh along certain vectors to make it match the other mesh. Not all that accurate, or at least not as accurate as one would hope.

Worth a try though.
