Hi!
Here is a quick wing test showing a thin mesh with plenty of geometry displaced in max with the vray modifyer. At the extremeties of the mesh it gets screwy. This happens with thin meshes and far points on a model such as fingers, ears etc. Anyone found a workaround. This occurs with the standard displacement exporter from zb at a variety of settings and is worse with the multi displacement 3 exporter.

Thanx in advance

Which displacement method are you using for V-Ray?

Hi thev.

default vray displacement render settings
vray displacement modifier 2d landscape, ammount 2.6, shift 1.3, res 1024
above turbosmooth set to 1 iteration.
tiff zbrush map with output rgb offset -1

For zbrush models it is usually better to use 3d displacement, rather than 2d.

Also, if your displacement amount is 2.6, the shift should be -1.3 (note the minus). Output RGB offset for the bitmap itself should be 0.0 (the default).

Ah ok.
Tried the 3d displacement and it sucked as does material displacement. Will give it another go incorperating your suggestions.

Thanx for the response.
