View Full Version : Webhosting for Animations

I have a WiP thread for a DFS project a little ways down on the forum.

I've been hosting my files at mediashare, but that's clearly suboptimal since it requires users to actually download these oversized things and then run them in the media player of their choice on their own machines (plus, the links only seem to parse properly about 85% of the time). Obviously, a streaming media solution like Youtube or Photobucket would be a better option; however, when I upload my images to any of those sites I've found, I get something that looks like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjyqGE2D_mw

when it ought to look like this:
http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/7a6abca8012f42b5718d8388599117ca2g.jpg (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=yjvw0jjj1dm&thumb=4)

Can anyone suggest a hosting service for streaming video that will not mutilate my animations?

you could convert it to flash and let it stream from your site

Just google web hosting and pick one. Then you can embed a quicktime on you web page, or simply link to it, as web browsers do play quicktime provided they have the quicktime plugin.
When choosing one, take into account, that you may not host too many files, so you don't need so much space, but you do need unlimited transfer, because you want many people to view your files.
