View Full Version : Rendering Problem: Disappearing Objects on Batch Render
KYKhalil 04-03-2008, 07:30 PM Hey there everyone... I am possibly overlooking something, never happened to me before, but for some reason when I am batch rendering my scene, 2 of my objects disappear. I have absolutely no clue why they do that. They do come back though when I convert them from subdiv back down to polygons. They batch render in their polygon state, but once in Subdiv they disappear in batch render.
Using Mental Ray to render... just incase that makes any difference. The materials applied to them is used on other ojects... so it's just those 2 specific objects behaving that way.
I could really use some help on this, much thanks in advance!

Well I am sure it can my friend.. because almost everything in the scene are sub-d. Just having issues with those 2 objects. But... I will try smoothing it and see if that helps.

Hi, did you resolve this issue? Because I have a very similar problem. When I render with mental ray, some objects disappear after the first frame. I can't find the source of the problem.

Hi my friend... no I did not resolve the issue, but since I had to get it done, I just did smooth poly. Of course smooth poly is irreversible, which I hate. It is funny just how different the object looks smooth vs. sub-D... smoothing doesn't make it as clean or subtle as sub-D.
This problem has frustrated me to near madness :D Happy I can laugh at it though.
Please do keep in touch about this issue, as I myself have exhausted the attributes and any possible cause of this, but nothing yet. I love using Mental Ray and I would hate to know this issue will just show it's head whenever it feels like in my projects. I will continue to investigate and update if I find something, but so far I have got no help re this issue.

Hi Kykhalil,
Well I found out some strange thing about my problem. It's not an issue of smoothing but rigid bodies in my scene. You can read it here: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=87&t=620463
There is a bug for sure. But I hope we can find some workarounds for this.
