View Full Version : Dark Tree
Crash 05-10-2003, 05:02 PM hi guys, this sketch isn't mine I just drew over it digitally with a tablet to get a high resolution, whomever this tree belongs too the credits for it great mood go too.... anyways I'm planning of making a print for my shirt... we're an amature band called Shadowdale..... and unfortunatlly I'm not so good with 2d and I don't have the time to spare to create a 3d image.... so if any of you could help me out with the colouring.... the light is going to go from the behind... there's going to be a moon in the back with sme nice grey clouds.... and in front of the tree there's going to be a character in a cloak.. everything should be dark and moody but not to dark so that everything is visible, I only need help with the tree coz I'm going to manage the rest of it... I mean the cloud and the moon are already there, so is the bands logo.... so if you could only help me with the tree I would be very greatful....

Well as far as the coloring I would use a range of blues and and some dark greys. You're going to have a stong backlight since the moon will be your only illumination. That means that the front part of the tree will be fairly dark. Also there will be parts(the parts furthest from the light) which will not be distinguishable from the ground. It's kinda hard when I'm not painting it myself, but those are just a few hints that I noticed outright. Good luck...
