Hello Everyone,

I am new to applying textures and shading in general.
So I started to apply an anisotropic shader to a reactor of mine.
The thing is that it looks very different from when i apply the same shader to a sphere (you can see it on the enclosed picture).
i have grouped the 2 objects so that i am sure i am applying the same material, but even then , the reactor seems to be incandescent: it's like there's only specular highlight showing on the surface and no shadow at all.
Did i do something wrong or is it settings problems?

Thanks in advance for you help.

the anisotropic shader doesnt work on polys, only on surfaces. maybe thats the problem ?

Thanks for your help Stimpy,

I am a kind of disappointed that xsi cannot handle "basic" shaders the same way with surface and polys...
Are there other shaders that can't be applied to polys?

I was also wondering what surface shader was the most appropriate to get a brushed metal look besides anisotropic (preferably one that can be applied to polys, of course...)?

Thanks
