View Full Version : Still/Car : Lotus Elise 340r
Little_Devil 05-10-2003, 10:33 AM Hi,
this is an Lotus Elise 340r. It is nearly finished. Known
issues are :
- the tires texture (bump and shiny)
- the exposure of the light on pic 2 & 3
- these caps on the tires ... ehh don't know the english
word for it...
Please c&c, despite the fact it is the 999^999 Lotus Elise :)
Happy rendering,
Ferdinand

wao....nice man..
You could have spend more polys on the tyres to get a perfect detail rather than using bump map...is just my opinion anyway..hehe

* hm no more critics ? * can't be all *g
please comment...

to khang wei :
jeah, i know modelled tires do look a lot better, but
i've no choice. They would waste a lot of more polys
and i've to render in 4900*2900 px with GI. I've got
a 2.4 Gig system for render, but i want to get one pic
into the ~15 h zone
happy rendering,

Modelling tyre treads is relatively easy but the resultant poly count is through the roof..I so far have modelled the treads, but it has meant even one tyre is far higher than the rest of the model, it all depends on how your renderer deals with this as to whether it is really worth it. :)
Don't know the car so well but I can see little to crit, especially as a WIP, other than the cardboardness of the bg textures. Looking forward to seeing it finnished.  :)

Hey that must be a fun model, I think its pretty well done, tho the cars design isn't a cool car but a crazy lookin one, overall I think the model is pretty close to the original, a few things on the top of the hood the center on the front and the dip down channels should go right up to the dege of the glass,, and missing the ridges that blend off around the front most section, yup minor stuff that seems to stand out to me, maybe tint the headlights a little more black or was the inside area just suppose to be black.
anyways.. good complex model and love all the detail you put into it, I'm still working on mine, more details,, never enough. hehe

perhaps render it again with antialiasing? apart from the fact that parts of the car resemble a bathtub on wheels, not that i dont like the car. Maybe softening the shadows would help
