Pryanik 05-10-2003, 10:24 AM I'm modeling a tree. It's no problem for me to model branches and leafs, but it'll take a long time to place leafs on the brances and even if i do this and change the color it looks not realistic. Help, please.

Somebody made a really good tree with Shag fur using the following technique. Since I didn't have Shag Fur I used Scatter
I made some tests once, I didn't finsh it but it did look promising. What I did was this:
I had a branch object with medium to small sized branches, I made this with subdivision modelling.
On that object I used the 'compound objects->scatter function' to selectively distribute tiny branches. These branches are mainly there to give the tree some 'volume' and get the leaves away from the tree.
On these tiny branches I distrubuted the leaves with a particle system (Parray). For the look I made these these smaller branches invisible.
I didn't experiment more, so this images is with a crappy texture and no lighting. I think it could definetely turn into something good with more tweaking.
