This is the animation:
Matte Painting Animation 1.7mb DIVX (http://www.telusplanet.net/public/edwin/kiaran/animation/FinalCompostion.avi)
Done with Maya 5. Painting done with Photoshop.
I plan on adding a space ship or something that flys in an lands in a cave in the cliff. I'll have to see how much time I get to work on it. This is my first time doing a special effects shot so comment/critiques are welcome. Please let me know what you think. Cheers ;)

you should do some color correction on either foreground or background plate, cause so far they dont match at all.

The edges of the rocks have an odd wavy thing going on. The camera movement looks like it matches quite well though. The foreground and background sunlight looks inconsistent. I would expect the rocks on the right to be quite dark from shadow...unless those are just cloud shadows in the backgrond. I also noticed some strange blue stuff on the top of the rocks on the left. I think I agree about the color too.

They are correct ^^ your sun light is a different tone in the foreground and background. And you need to clean the rock at the upper left (looks like a mishap with the actual photo).
To really give this area some space think about adding another element to show the ground right infront of the viewer at the middle rolling off. Let the viewer stand at the edge of a cliff :) .
Keep posting.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have color corrected the cliffs layers but I have to agree that perhaps they need to be messed with a little bit. The jittery cliff edges and blobs in the corner are blue screen elements because my blue screen layer was 'dirty'. I'll rework it and post my results with the spaceship. ;)
And excellent idea about the forground element. Some ground cliff would really give a nice sense of vertigo. (which is what I'm going for)
