Hey there folks. Got some questions about Subtools.
I've just prepared my Dominance War character for sculpting in ZBrush. Unwrapped him in Max'08 and offset UV's for polygroup for subtool creation.
To save on my polygon budget of 9000 tris I kept his flesh and armor as a contiguous mesh.
But he's a pretty complex character so I separated his flesh, armored parts, and shell into separate subtools. I creased the edges of each subtool at their lowest sub'd level to prevent the seams between each subtool from opening up when I subdivide it but to no avail. Knowing that this will cause big problems in my normal map, I'd like to get it sorted out before I proceed to sculpt.

My questions are.
1: Is there any way to prevent open holes betweeen subD'd subtools like this?
2: Should I even be breaking up a contiguous mesh into subtools? Should I have instead made the armor and flesh overlapping closed meshes?
3:If not can I still have polygroups on each subtool?
4: This one's kinda unrelated but is it possible to relocate points of symmetry on symmetrical subtools that belong to asymmetrical models? Some of my subtools are symmetrical and I'd like to speed up the process by working on them that way.
Thanks for your time! I'm lookin forward to sculpting this guy out.
