Hello all,
Way back, Pelos (Demian K..) posted a few tutorials showing how he set up Cloth\Softbody dynamics. I believe there were two vids and maybe even a scenefile(s).

I found a link to one by Julez4001 (Julian Herring ) when he was hosting it on his site..

Here is the original thread: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=92&t=146395

The link is dead, but I was hoping someone might still have those videos. As I recall, they were quite good, and showed the characters animated nicely.. (if memory serves).. I think they would be a valueable addition to learning for old and new!.

I contacted Pelos privately, but I am not sure how active he is on this list..

I located one of the videos. I had to rar the video into three parts. I can only make this available on my Comcast file space for a short period of time so hopefully someone else can host the video for others to learn from in the future.

Thank you!..
I grabbed them and took a look. I think there was another video Pelos created that was of an animated character with a cape. I dont think it had audio.. hmm..

I was thinking we should start to post some of the videos.. Past and present... on You Tube. or some other streaming site. That way others bandwidth will not be impacted.. and it may have the added benefit of giving Messiah more exposure..

What do others think of that?

Something should be done. It is frustrating to think that a lot of talented people did tutorials that are lost now. It is great when someone digs one up, but a repository would be a great idea...

You're absolutely right.
I suggest joining in and contributing these finds to the wiki (http://messiah3d.scribblewiki.com/Main_Page)

Well, that's a good thought... the Wiki would be a natural place for all of this...

In fact, I have contributed... I put a link to my Tutorials on there...

What is the file storage capacity of it? I'd be happy to throw all of my tutorials over there, but I wasn't sure how much it can take. If we pull ALL of the tutorials from all of the sources... will we overwhelm it? And do you know what bandwidth limitations it has?

The main problem with our Wiki is it has a fairly low profile. I'm not sure a lot of people even know it is there.

To give you some idea of what I mean, I have stats on the people who have hit my site looking for the BVH tutorials.

As you can see, the Wiki trails CGTALK and ZOOGONO by a wide margin.

It's one of those catch-22 things: In order to be truly useful, people need to use it -- in order for people to use it, it needs to be truly useful...

yeah... you're right...
There's also stooch's bug tracker (http://www.stooch.net/messiah_tracker/my_view_page.php).

Would have loved to have seen the pmG team show support for that to aid us in aiding them... I think the wiki's advantage is that we don't have to annoy someone to update it. But - yeah... need to see where everything orients...

I sometimes do get the feeling that PMG's main interest is in making Messiah the best tool they can for their own use. Which is an interesting thought... since they are 3D professionals, they have more insight into what a 3D animator needs than many development teams... but their view of marketing leaves much to be desired... A Yahoo groups for communication? A Website that gets updated maybe twice a year? ::: shakes head :::

If they hired a professional PM, they could make so much more out of their product -- which is like a hidden secret in the 3D world, as it stands today.

But, another catch 22... they probably don't make enough off of Messiah sales to justify it... though if they did it, they would make more Messiah sales...

Oh well...

I can't access the bug tracker, btw...

Okay I got them on my site, they ain't gonna go anywhere.

The reason I think I don't host the cloth demo (4-5 years ago) was because Joe Cosman did a great version of it in his Mini Tutorials 3 years ago.

Fred tepper has a good breakdown but Joe's is better.

Wegg, has now put a 'tutorial' sticky link at the top of this forum, so please put your tutorial links in there, so there do not get lost in threads.
