Wow... this looks great. The bar looks as if it's being raised again, and MGS is going back to it's roots (thank God).

Here is a link for the site and trailer!

The first scene with the snake eating, that is not Solid Snake.
It is Big Boss, part of the game takes place in the past, during the days of Big Boss, so it is not Solid Snake.
But, the man at the end in the inferno is Solid Snake.
the faces are slightly different if you look at it carefully.
and so, he(Big Boss) hisses, and eats the snake.

Hey Pibonne Zuntata,

How do you know all this?

Yes it is possible, the first one has a more prominent beard. BUT! This game (or that part of it anyway) is definitly in the past. Look at Snake's face at the end, he is definitly younger than in MGS2. And the whole place looks like the stages from the first MG games. It also sounds a lot like a military training, which I am sure it is. From the background explosions to the flare in the sky, and snake eating for survival.

It is quite possible that at least that part of the game is set in the past. But is this going to be another MGS game where the whole thing is just an exercise? I don't think this game is simply a remake. Certainly not.

Pibonne Zuntata - Big Boss just got one eye, don't forget that.. so I'm pretty sure that solid snake is the one eating the snake in the beginning.

Oh my GOSH... This was incredible... I'm a big fan of the MetalGear series for sure, but this video althought in bad res make my spine run with shivers... MAN!!!

And that is Solid Snake eating the snake... He's younger, thougher than ever... The character emotion is supperb, especially in the scene where hes runing away from the wolves and them jumping the waterfall...

Really a promising game...

Thanks for the link Grubwyrm... I'll pass it to my friends!

Oh now I understand! This is Big Boss, back in Vietnam. You can see at the end he has no right eye.

So this might just be a flash back to super soldeir Big Boss' days in Vietnam. It's not Snake that much is for certain now. I am pretty sure that the game will be a direct sequel to MGS2 because of the "Hungry for some snake?" posted which showed a map of Russia, which seems to be the logical destination for Snake (Olga's son is probably there anyway).

So it's possible that the game will be set in two different stories. Big Boss' and Solid Snake's.

I wanted to be in control of Shalashaska (Ocelot) and Snake in the next MG, but Big Boss would definitly be cool!

One thing is for sure, the game is far away from being released considering the re-use of MGS2 enemies, sounds, and animations, plus the suits Big Boss is wearing are those of Olga.

Maybe this is not even the E3 trailer, just an old one that was made a while ago! Arrrhg! Can't wait for May 13tH!

Hmmmm....the trailor not bad. The game I'm sure will be good. Very exciting.

Also, for the Metal Gear Solid fans, I dunno if you've seen this news. Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes being developed for the GameCube. Not much on it yet, but sounds sweet. http://cube.ign.com/articles/400/400331p1.html

Wow that was really bad if I was them i'd ask for my money back on that CGI

PhilOsirus
05-11-2003, 04:05 AM
What was bad? It's real-time, and most of it is made up of old animations. On top of that the video is very low quality, you can't see much. If you doubt Metal Gear Solid's CG quality, take a look at the intro from MGS2:D

Kojima has never used 3D CGI for any games in the MGS series, Not for the intros or the cinemas.. all real-time. It's one of his trademarks.

[commenting on that link from Pibonne Zuntata]

well, they might of throw that together for E3. Kojima doesn't really work to anyone else's time table or for events like E3. they might not be that far in dev to show that much in-game footage, so they might of used animations from MGS2.

personally, i think it looks great. don't need to show me much of MGS3 to get me excited.

i'd like to add one more thing its cool to see snake back in the open jungle enviroment better than having him running through hallways, theres too many games where your running throw narrow hallways... gets boring

i cant recall ever hearing that big boss used snakes trademark?

if that really is big boss, and he usess the same type of bandana, then i will kind of be let down :)

i have read interviews where Kojima said MGS3 will let you play snake full time. And this time he have also asked people at Famicom ( i think thats the mag name) for help and ideas

Some one mentioned this in another post before, but its true, snake eater is a military term for special forces, my friend from the army told me this, so although at first the title sounds kind of lame, it might make more sense when we start to play and unravel the story

Well folks as far as I can tell now it seems this trailer is NOT the E3 trailer at all. It is becoming more and more likely that this was a simple "in-house" video not meant to be released to the public. Basicly, and old quickly-made video, probably one of the first they made before starting to model the new enemies and making good animations (look at those wolves jump).

So at E3 it is very likely that the scene where someone eats a snake will remain (in this case Big Boss, since you can see he has no right eye at the end of the video), altho the rest I doubt.

The MGS2 trailer was fully cinematic (real-time of course), so I am pretty sure this one will be as well. I mean comon, if that was all they could show, a bunch of re-used animations, they would NOT show it at E3, period.

But judging from the amount of "Wow! Cool! Can't wait!!11" we are seeing, it might have been done on purpose for blow us off our socks at E3, altho if not then it's only going to bring us down on our knees when we see the E3 trailer and go "WAAOOW!!!!!!!!!":bounce:

i sure hope your right, but regardless of what they say at gamespot i think it would be cool to sneak around with Big boss.
Yes, Raiden was horrible, but that doesnt change the fact that Boss is alot like snake (duh :P) and therefor might be cool to play.
Although Boss will surely be alot like snake in approach i really hope he will have some other neat stuff too.

This game will rock and as opposed to many others, i actually like the title very much. My bet is that "Snake eater" is the new metal gear

Or the return of Big Boss. That might be the whole idea right there, seeing Big Boss eat Snake... But Snake kicked his butt before! Argh can't wait!!!

you can chage camouflgue, clothings and face paints etc to match the environment.
also this time food is a neccesity.
So hunting for food, is one major new consideration.depending on the foods Snkae eats, he will start to have likes, and dislikes in certain foods.
also using the natural enviromnet to help snake fight off, or hide from enemies.
Such as shooting a Wasp Nest full of bees onto a soldier to distract his aiming etc.

Hmm but I hope it is not always in the jungle. And why does Snake look so low-tech? He has an earplug instead of communicating with nano-machines, and compared to his high-tech suits (anti-frost pad in MGS1 and stealth-suit in MGS2).

It looks like a prequel, or even a remake, but I don't beleive it is a remake. Metal Gear Solid Twin Snake is a remake of MGS1 for the Game Cube, don't confuse the two. That one is set in Alaska.

Anyway I hope it will be good and that hunting for food won't become a major part of the game because quite frankly I think that's a bit unrealistic and unecessary. Rations found on soldeirs would be better IMO. Anyway...
