Hi all, My frist post here :D
I have just recentley got 3D max.
after i use it my computer runs really slow and takes like 4 seconds to bring the IE frame up (just an example). It is really starting to annoy me because i am lately always using this program so that means my computer is running slow all the time.
Has any body heard of this problem?
If so do you know anything that I can do?
Is there any patches or something that need to be installed?

Thanks alot,

LoZzA

1. What are your PC specs?
2. Do you run Norton Antivirus 2003 perhance? - if so, uninstall it and reboot your comp.

It actually does only occur while running NAV 2003 - I've tested this on several comps.

What you are saying is that you know that this thing is only caused by NAV because you have tested it on a vew comps? Thats like saying "every car has a radio since i've checked a few and they all had radios" ^_^

My PC is a counterexample of your theory that it always causes this... btw Im not denying that NAV could be the problem

Lozza: Yeah more info could be helpful

Try setting the priority of Max to "below normal" or "low" through the task manger. This will help espeically when rendering because you can have the render going and still have good responce time in your other apps.

one way to change proitity is to press ctrl+alt+del (yes, thats save in XP as long as you do it only once), and then switch to the tabblad "Processes", pick 3dsmax.exe (sort the list on ImageName if it keeps shifting), rightclick on it, and then via "Select Priority ->" you can set priority... click OK on the warningdialog and you're done

Does dissabling Realtime File System Protection changes anything? If not, look up in the task manager which task eats up computer performance !!
