my question would be: Why are you selling it? whats wrong with it?
umm actually if you click on the big letters in his sig you will fin out
sadie are you sure it requires an 8x slot?
cause this web page says it can take 4x as well. assuming you don't have 2x

It's not 4x vs. 8x, but AGP vs. AGP Pro. PA's motherboard doesn't have an AGP Pro slot.

yes, adam is correct, this is my dilema. i simply can't use the card in my machine! (it's brand new in it's box, though i did briefly take it out to have a look and double check.. it's never been used though).

Hmm.. buy a motherboard Sadie.. it's cheap compared to the video card :)
You are on Intel ? I just buyed a motherboard with agp pro ..

can't buy a new mother board, or rather that would be stretching things beyond their budget. the machine itself is a brand new dell, and i'm not going to spend an extra $250 on an asus mobo (i want an 800mhz fsb), dell don't do anything with agp pro beneath their wrokstations at around $11000 something i can't justify spending on one machine, and i don't fancy returning the dell to have to go and get a custom built machine (i like the level or service i get form dell). so i'd sooner get rid of the card than the machine.
buy the mobo :D
buy the mobo :D
really it makes sense...just hold the card for a couple months and the price of mobos will drop....then you still have an awsome vid card....

Agreed... the mofo mobo with AGP pro can be bought for 175 on pricegrabber, last I checked.

replacing a mobo in a dell would probably invalidate the warranty (as dell seem to make their own), you'd be screwed if anything went wrong with it (the other components I mean)

Per: what don't you take back the card to the store where you bought it and change it with another card? I bet there should be some warranty or something like that, here in Italy we can take back things in 30 days

Where'd you buy that card, so we all know where *NOT* to shop?! :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:
That really sucks. For future reference, some vendors with good prices and service are http://www.newegg.com and http://www.atacom.com
I've had great experiences with both.
Also, before you buy anything online, always check out the vendor at http://www.resellerratings.com
Can save you a lot of grief.

thats crazy, in the UK if you buy something over the net or by mail order you can send it back for any reason at all within 7 days of its arrival, and thats law with any non face to face purchase

However if you can't take it back sell it on ebay, you have a good chance to sell it Per, good luck
How much research have you done on the consumer guarantee Per?......Even in the US there must be some kind of protection. At the least I would assume they could do a credit for you,ie get a card which is ok for your machine and a credit for the difference :)

actually the law is something like 14 days guaranted or something like that, unless stated other wise however if they can stall you out enough it goes all to pot.
the maximum ammount of time that you have to return is 60 days after that you are stuck with it.
unless they specificly said no returns, They have no grounds to not give you a refund.
Found this dont know if it is any help :)

My brother is a solicitor and his girl friend is a law lecturer and even thought they wont know squat about US law, they might know a good site or something so I will ask them for you :)

Not much in the way of public assistance here, but this is something that could be handled in small claims court. You don't need a lawyer for that. In many states, at least in Fla., there are free clinics on how to proceed in small claims.

Hey Per, you should go here http://www.resellerratings.com/seller3399.html and slam those mofos. I can't believe they have a 10 RATING!! But that's only because there are only nine ratings and no one tried to return anything.
Just checked to see that ATI ask for an AGP Pro connection...they do...bummer
Also found the new 9800 Pro also comes in 256m as well :)

yeah... thanks for the mail stu, the thing is... on the supplyace website they don't say agp-pro anywhere... just agp (agp 64mb and above)
http://www.supplyace.com/shop/product.aspx?cid=720&pid=4235908
even on the invoice it just says agp dual display dvi... maybe i can force them to take it back on false advertising. :/
Hey no problem :)
Ah cool ok in that case grab a screenshot of the site before they can change it and print it out, grab your invoice and write down anything you think is helpful and find a lawyer, this gives you some bargaining power bud  may just take a couple of letters between your lawyer and theirs....
