View Full Version : After Effects FPS Issue (Need byTomorrow!)
ThreeDSnack 03-31-2008, 06:24 AM I'm having a problem with After Effects... I import an image sequence, add in the audio, but the image sequence is running at 30 fps (I Think), and I want it to run at 24. In the "info" box on the right it says it's running at 24 fps, but it defenitely is not (seems more like 30). I have absolutely no experience with AE, just trying to use it to convert image sequences into movie files, so anything that you think might be obvious that I might of already tried please tell me about it! Thanks!
Oh, and if your know Of a better way of converting IMage sequences into AVi or soemthing else please do tell!
I have to have my rendered shot by tomorrow tonight (well technically by toinight (it's 1:30 a.m.)) so the sooner the better! Thanks again!

Right click the footage in the project panel and click on "interpret footage" The frame rate interpretation is there to set to what you need.
In future, if you use this setting more often, you can set it as a default under preferences.

Alright so I ended up just stretching the video because changing it the way you said didn't work, but i did get it to match what 24 fps would be because on my video I had a frame counter, and so I could test to see how much i had to stretch it. But now I have another issue...
When exporting as an AVI file, the whole thing comes out nicely, with the video and audio working perfectly, but the file size is 40 mb, and i need it to be 5 mb or less. So i export it as a quicktime file and its somehting like 2.5 mb, which is great, but the audio in choppy. I checked the sample rate and matched it with the original audio rate (22.050), and its mono tone so i changed that in the export settings as well... but the audio is choppy...
Any help would be great! I'm in a bit of an emergency i guess you would call it, so the quicker i can figure this out the better! Thanks guys

When you import the frames into AE, make sure under import preferences, you have it set to 24fps.
Edit->Preferences->Import
Set to 24 frames per second.
Create a new composition, under composition settings make sure the Frame Rate is set to 24 Frames per second. Import the images as a sequence, lay it on the timeline, render it out (most video codecs will look to your project settings for fps, so no need to set it in there).
It should play fine. Hopefully this helps anyone who has this trouble.
