I :)

I have à little problem

I create scene with 3DS Max, an head, with 3 VRay Lights ( Spherical )

I add " Hair and Fur Modifier " in my mesh, but impossible to obtain Shadows...:D

Is it normal ?

For the moment, I use " Hair Rendering Option/ geometry ", but it's not really cool

Do you have a solution ?

Thanks ( and sorry for my bad English :))

Try the following...

Make a backup copy of your styled hair and hide it. Then goto "Rendering -> Environment -> Effects -> Hair and Fur" and set the rendering options to "geometry". After this, go on to "Compound Objects" and make use of the "Mesher" object. Add the geometry of your hair and update the viewport display.

After a few other steps, you'll might get a solution like this

Here's a 3ds max 9 very rough example scene for you:

Many thanks for this tips, it's an excellent solution for apply à mat to hair, it's cool :)

Just the prob is Render Geometry is very very long and the hair are really " bizarre " aspect

I test actually Render Element for the hair and is shadow with 3DS Max lights ( with the head Matte shadows material ), and compositing with the mesh render...it's other boring solution, huhu :)

( toujours sorry for my english

Yup. It renders longer with such amount of tiny geometry, or, you could try to render with MentalRay instead of using V-Ray.

Or maybe, you can get a free copy of Ornatrix' Hair plugin somewhere, since their website might be down.
