I have looked on this site for tutorials for beginners on learning how to model the human form. While I have found some they were not in detail enough and did not explain everythning at a beginner level. I was wondering if anyone out there could point me to some that have helped you learn the basics of modeling of the human form.

Howdy !

I would say then that you have looked well enough !
you could have a look here (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21263) at first, or on Michel Roger's Joan of Arc (http://mr2k.3dvf.com/) tutorial, that should get you started.
Then i'd say anyhow that one of the keys to it would be reference images, so once you've got the basics, just find yourself nice ref and get going !

I went through all of those and I stll had not found one simple enough to begin learning basic modeling. The Joan of arc part was good but I was stuck at the first part. Yeah I must suck but I'm going to keep trying.

Anyhow, and even if you did not suck (- not saying that you actually do !) you'd have to keep trying and practice, it's the only way.
Still if those were of no help maybe you can try 3dbuzz (http://www.3dbuzz.com) and the vtms, register there (free) and browse the site for (also free) video training on Max, i know there is a part on body/face modeling, as well as a lot of other videos to learn a lot about Max : )
