I really love the effect I can get in my drawings by using photoshop and a tablet. Since I love to draw really rich colored scenes and characters in a fantasy style, photoshop gives me a look that I cant really get using colored pencils or other hand drawn mediums. I guess this is because im a video game lover and I am usually inspired by concept art. I definetely need to build a better foundation in art in order to improve so I always like to practice with pencil when Im learning from a book. What I want to know is how do you guys usually split up your time with drawing? Should I try to practice my skills with pencil most of the time until I get a lot better and then start working digitally? Will drawing too much on the tablet without practicing basics by hand give me bad habits? I just want to go about improving the correct way, Im sooo determined to get better i just wanna make sure Im doing it correctly. Thanks in advance

Do your pencil drawing, with as much detail as you want. Scan it into the computer, open it up in Photoshop, create a new layer and use the tablet to draw and color on the new layer - strengthen the lines, add details, etc. Don't worry about how much time you spend on this or that. The only thing to worry about is what works, what gives you the best result.

You can draw however you want. There are many people who learned with digital and don't really draw on paper, or artists who came from a traditional background but has now converted to 100% digital. If you can draw, then you can draw--doesn't matter what the surface is. If you are away from the computer (on the train, in a cafe), then you have no choice but to draw on paper--unless you want to lug around a laptop and a tablet.
