View Full Version : this ole house
kvernon 05-09-2003, 06:21 AM Hi Everyone,
I've been a lurker amoung the list for quite a while. Anyway, I want to see what people thought of this render. I know the render is a low level render [sorry for that], so what I did was included an earlier version [lowest image] of this view rendered a little nicer to give you a better idea of what it would look like. Based on this render, can people tell me thoughts of it; good, bad, or things I've left out. I've just been working on this for so long, I think I'm getting lost.

handsome colors
nothing to say about the model itself, but the composition
perhaps you could make your render dimensions more panoramic
say, give it more room on the left, as if you were trying to sell the house in an ad
i find the current composition a bit too bunched... not enough breathing space
otherwise, very nice work

Lookin nice i like the colors. I would change the background maybe, add mountains or other houses? and also the black lines between garage panels seem to thick me. But good job forsure

If you're going for real looking, the green in the grass looks too saturated... and at the edge of the grass, it needs to look a bit more chaotic, right now the grass looks highly artificial the way it just stops in a straight line...
Oh, and we need dirt. The driveway, and the house needs to look more worn.
And I agree about he background, but overall it's quite good.

dash2k3,
I do agree with the comp. It's a tough one, when I was going through papers here, I noticed lots of real estate people were taking pictures of the houses to see how much of the house they can cram in the photo, so essentually I did the same. At the same time I played with it a little in hopes of trying to cover up the sides [no houses on either side and behind]. I'll play with a little and see what I get! Who knows, right? :buttrock:
Dustin_Senos,
I'll tweak the background with your idea and add in some clouds or something. Mountains are really not native to houston texas, so people that would see this would probably be a little confused, but I 100% can't agree with you more that I need something back there! mucho thanks!
Carina,
Thanks for the grass I'll tweak the curving a bit on the edges and the saturation will get cranked down just a notch as well! I tell ya that's been a tough one trying to get that look of a well trimmed yard, and keep it not to not to artificial.
Just me yapping now [never a good thing LOL]
What do you all think about the suns early morning shadow? I'm sure you noticed a difference, I tried to tighten it up like a sun would be [still a little stylized], but I really do like the way it was originally, where the shadow was diffused out more. I probably should just stick with the way it now, tighter... AHHHHH, all these choices!
:applause: thanks again!

I definitely prefer the second lighting setup.
I know what you mean about the grass being a nightmare.. I haven't really done any in almost three years but i still remember it being a nightmare to get to look good.
I think you'll get a much more realistic looking result once you tweak the grass to perfection though.. Also adding a little bit of grass growin in cracks in the driveway, walkway or pavement would add a lot of realism to it... Of course not overly much, as there would not be overly much in a well groomed garden, but a tad always seems to be there.

Hi everyone! :bounce:
I've been working on the house scene, I haven't done the clouds yet, but what are the thoughts now? I've tweaked the house, and added one to left. Finally I lowered the color richness of the grass too! I also wound up tweaking the sidewalk? What are thought for this render?
Like usual, Thanks!

I think that the house looks awesome. I love the sunrise/set shadow on the side and the reflection of the trees in the windows. The only things that stand out now are the grass, it may be a little to perfect and for some odd reason the house looks to elongated ubwards, i don't know why.
Maybe you should add some more stuff like a center moulding or something of that manner.
Great Job:thumbsup:

Oh just one more thought about res, since you were talking about it and how bad the quality was. You should try saving the fil as a GIF instead of a JPEG, because the file size will be smaller and teh quality will be better.

Flash Frog: What do you mean by Center Molding?
I'm looking to improove it, but I wanna understand what you are refering to.

there seems to be nothing behind the house, like a void,
mabe a background image will help
otherwise, clean huse, looks brand new

LOL at your tag line!
Yeah I agree about the back, I've been trying to figure out how to put something back there and still emphasize the house!
Mucho Thanks!
