View Full Version : my first Beetle
dash2k3 05-09-2003, 06:18 AM this is my first ever vehicle in maya
no headlights, as i can't figure out how to make them aside from trim (and i already killed the history, so there's no going back...)
no interior, either, which explains my flat view
i'd appreciate any and all comments from all you experts on making cars
i've seen many wonderful pieces of work, and the one thing that i feel really distinguishes a product is the LIGHTING
if well-lit, i believe even a '60 pinto could look very nice
i'd love to hear what you guys have to say
cheers

Wow, that is so sweet!
the area around the tires looks a little blocky, and the windshield seems to stick way out, but the proportions look ok!
I don't own one, but I wouldn't mind taken that one for spin.

Hey there. its looking good. I just finished myfirst car model in maya as well, except it was a classic bug. The is a great tutorial on te thomas surland site. www.suurland.com. Look under the gallery section. Hs is amazing. I agree, its coming along well but some of the proportions look a little off. Maybe raise the bottom of the front windshield up and work more on the whole front end, it seems to potrude too much. Keep up the good work. By the way, heres how mine turned out. I think I'll revisit it later, but it was for a class and the deadline snuck up on me so I'm off to bigger and better things.
Hope it helps!

thanks for the comments
now that i come back to look at it, it seems the camera squashed my image a bit too much
the lighting was poorly done, which is perhaps why there are so few replies to this thread
i'll try to put up a better lit pic at a later time
maybe that will generate some more response
cheers
