View Full Version : Do track view XYZ only work in world space
hi there, max track view curves seem to work on world space, Is there a way to make it work on local XYZ...
EG Z is always world Z (up) not local Z

All packages work this way. There really is no way to display a "local space" curve.
The rotation would always be relative to the object, so it would always show 0,0,0.
The values in trackview and the motion panel are the actual real numbers that get the object oriented relative to its parent into its alignment. Mathematically, all rotations are always around a world axis, x, y or z. Actually a better way to say it is it is always around a world axis defined by its parent.
One thing that might help you is to parent your object to a helper/dummy that has the same initial orientation as it. This way the values will appear to be 0, even if the original starting pose is off somehow from the world. This works because values are as mentioned relative to their parent.
