View Full Version : My 2 week project
kassun 05-09-2003, 01:20 AM I recently graduated from the Renaissance Center (where 3d buzz teaches) , where I took the Maya I-12 class. Here are some screen shots from my two week project. I never had enough time to do lighting or texturing, but plan to finish it as a side project when i have the time. I have a play blast but i need to shrink down the file size before i can post it. I am sure you can figure out the character :). The total lengh of the anim is 1min 30 sec.
Thanks for your time,
Kassun

yep it's scrat, I wish I had more time to add in a mouth and put in some blendshapes, but they couldn't be put in due to time. I plan on adding that in before I go ahead and texture him. He will have fur eventually, but I haven't messed around with fur before in Maya.
The animation starts off with scrat hoping along and sniffing. He stops an looks up, in the distance he sees an nut vending machine. So he hops over and walks up to it. Looks at the choices and sees acon is one of them. So he pushes the button, but nothing happens. He pauses then trys again, but no luck. He procedes to flick of the machine and stuff. Then he tries again, he pushes, but no luck, again and again, same result. Now in an angered state he franticially tits the button and kicks the machine at the same time. The sign falls off. Then he starts to walk away hears a click, then the acorn shoots out of the machine, goes into bullet time, as the camera pans 360 and ends up with a shot from behind the acorn. So you see this huge acorn and scrats face, then time catches up and he gets flattened. well thats the short version :)

This is the first animation i had ever done, so please keep that thought in the back of your mind:). I did an ok job on the gig, but no with all that i know it could have been much better, i ran into problems that made him look a bit stiff. I went along with scrat for a bit and then divated and made it more dramitic at the end, I know now that I should have stayed with quick movements, well with that said here i my first animation, it's not rendered, just a play blast.
encoded with windows media player 9, 2.8 mb 1 25 sec long

nice modeling
but the animation needs more work.
there is also too much camera movement
and plan the animaiton out more because the action sometimes isn't clear
anyways nice work

onurbasaldi: I agree, i only had a week to animate, and due to the rig, I wasn't able to do alot, but it was a huge learning experence.
