This is an animation project I've been working on over the past year. It was basically an attempt to learn about the systems of Maya that I knew little about (hair and fx mainly, plus improving rigging techniques). This is an animation for a friend of mine, a salsa instructor in the bay area. This will be an animated column on her webpage. Creating it involved going back and forth with her on the look and feel of the model, as well as the motion itself -- making sure it accurately represented the way she looks and moves. My blog has the animation as a flash movie in the most recent post:

Here's her website that it will go on (it has pictures of her if you're curious)

http://www.salsawithpantea.com (http://www.salsawithpantea.com/) (it's being redesigned soon)

Admittedly, there's much I could improve... I don't really know much about tuning particles and fire in Maya, but for a webpage, I think it's adequate enough.

I'd love to hear your comments, thanks!

Shaun

Here are some higher resolution stills from the animation:

Hey, I really liked the movement in the animation, and the hair seemed to flow really well. I dont know much about the fire FX in maya yet, but from your rendered animation i think it works very well.
