Overall I like Porsche more than any other car company. This is cool, and DO NOT listen to cgmonkey... I am NOT fed up with cars. The day people stop making cars will be the day I stop coming to cgtalk.

The outside shell of the car looks great so far, it looks exactly like a porshe. Is there any chance that you can upload an image of the wireframe, just to see what it looks like. Thanks

I`m not sure about it. People are making cars more and more. It`s IMHO becouse of cars are quite simple to make. I think it`s easier to make a good car, than make a good character.

What do you think ?

Here's the wire...

Don't know if its good or not, Im quite new to 3ds

IMHO the wire is not very good. It is very dense. It is hard to correct it, when it is so dense. What method have you used to create it ?

i think you need to add the intakes and also it would be easier to build a simi low poly version then metasmooth to make it more easier to modify the car

I am modeling it in lowpoly, just showed the highpoly wire...

What is the intakes?? Im not that good with cars :)

Here's the lowpoly wire...

and from behind...

Intakes are parts in body, through wich the air is flowing in. Mainly in front of a car to cooler, and to front and rear brakes :D

Are the intakes the "holes" under the lights??

This looks awesome, nice render! looks like it's straight out of a brochure.

Anyone that have any suggestions on how to model the lights??

I've tried model them with box/poly, but it looks wierd... what shall I do?

Im having some problems...I dont know how to make the hard edges like where the door and hood is, here is a pic to show where I mean.

try chamfering the edges by a small amount
or try the "glue" plugin for 3dsmax...

I'd recommend you to use chamfering method.

Gluing the line onto the mesh becomes a problem because you can't open the doors/hood/etc.

First, detach the mesh into pieces, so that door, hood, trunk become individual mesh.

Then, extrude the outer edges (where you want to make the 'cut') just a little, then once more, this time deeper.

When you apply meshsmooth onto it, it'll work.

Just remember that chamfering the edges of the lowpoly keeps the sharp ends when you apply meshsmooth.

I think I'm not making myself clear,

Check out this tutorial, if you haven't already, and see the method to make the doors. It explains the same method I was talking about :)

Here's an update... done some more on the rear, and started making the intakes. I have made the door and the hood two different objects but the "lines" arent showing that well, so a little tweaking should do it..

Nice work so far. Looks like you're having more success than I did with my first car. I had the same problems as you, and only a couple days ago did I solve them. I'm making a McLaren. My Mclaren WIP thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61500&perpage=15&highlight=mclaren&pagenumber=1) may help with some of your troubles (or not) :). Good Luck.

Looks like it's coming along very nicely. As side earlier, you are going to way to detach the surfaces to make the seperate pieces for the hood, trunk, doors, etc.

One thing, remember to model out windshield wipers when the time comes. I hate harping on it, but a vast majority ofwave of car models being made currently don't have wipers.

The overall shape of your car is looking great and holding true to the design of the Porsche.

hehe, good start..Wish I knew how to model with splines, dont know what its called in Maya. So I have to stick with good old patch surfaces :)

I know exactlly what you mean either you get stuck or go tired and start on something new... really frustrating, Im in a non-working-period atm cus i have so much to do in school :(

Good luck with your porsche!
