After talking with King_m0b and few others, its been decided that my choice of subject matter for 3d models have been mainly monsters. A superhero with leprosy, A tech-Zombie, George Dubya bush etc... ;)

I've decided to try my hand at doing a fantasy model, based loosely on the works of Amy Brown. I've started the 2d sketch in an effort to increase my skills with the wacom tablet.

Any crit on the character design is greatly welcomed...! Yes. I know she has no head. Thats called creative streamlining ;)

she has no head.

body and clothes are looking good. should be quite interesting to model that cloth. :P
im not too big of a fan of the wings right now. maybe they should be a bit bigger or so, giving you a nice opportunity for some colorful texture there.

Looks like this could be fun to follow!

She doesn't have a head! (and yes I did read your post just had to comment anyway :D)

Her hands look a bit funky too..

King: Im trying to figure out what I want her head to look like, but I'll draw one up soon and post it.

Stimpy: Amy Brown's work is good but is very feminine, so I tried making the wings a little more evil and imposing. I'll maybe re-design them soon... But with NO Manga influence ;o)

Carina: I agree. Her hands suck. I'll update soon.

Thanks for the Crit...!

This looks cool. The model still needs a lot of tweaks but its still early and looks very good, update when you have done the head hands and feet so we can really comment on it - without those its kind of harder to suggest improvements.

It looks very good, I'm looking forward to seeing an update!

Thanks for the responses Fetus, Carina and Elliot...!

Stimpy...

you SUCK! j/k

Here's a very small update. Any comments on what I have done for the knees? The feets are just roughly started, and her achilles tendon is nasty ass right now. I'll fix 'er up nice and purdy tommorow.

Looking good!

Those tendons are sharp enough to cut anyone in half:)

I really like the modelling so far, it has a lot of originality!

Im glad you think so Carina. :)

So far I have avoided modeling a modelesque female nude, mainly because I really try to avoid the cliche if I can. More importantly I've never felt confident that I can pull off an anatomically accurate semi-nude. I have 6 anatomy books at my desk and folders full of reference. Even with all this reference I find im having to slow right down to figure out what goes where.:surprised The public library keeps calling me with thier autodialer to return thier books. Im going to have one nasty late charge. :surprised

Im doing this model as an excersise in anatomy, and to attempt a subject I normally wouldnt do. As for the costume, im still unsure if I am going to try and model the cloth as I've drawn it. Well see how it goes. If I make a mess of it I'll do something less wild.

Thanks for the comments...!

"folder full of reference" *snicker*

but yes, that was something i wanted to point out anyway too (besides the fact that she has no head), that shes coming along nicely without being another one of those generic perfect female bodies.

i just hope you wont get influenced too much by old Leroy the Leper, cause a couple of parts on her do seem to remind me a bit of him. like those shoulderblades. maybe tone them a bit down.

I wont be able to update for a few days, but here is a rough pose for how I want the final to look.

Stimpy: Ya... I don't want to lock myself down so that all my models look like the leper. I'll try and fix her up nice and purdy for you :)

i think her shoulders might be a bit too wide though, giving her a rather male appearance..
