View Full Version : Several bone questions...

As you can see below I'm nearly finished setting up a skeleton for this model except for the other arm. Instead of manually rigging it, I just want to mirror the bone structure.

I'm sure Maxon implemented a way to do this but the mirror tool doesn't seem to work on bones.

Another thing I'd like to know is how to set up these sort of targets for knee's and elbows and the like. So that when you move the target the knee keeps pointing towards it.

And even though I restricted every single bone with restriction tags all set to 100% they still seem to come lose from the geometry sometimes. How can I fix that?

And last but most certainly not least, when is Kai's rigging CD comming out? And is it aplicable in R7 also?

Consider me a buyer anyway... :)

Hi Kirl,

Here is a link to great rigging tutorial for C4D R7.

http://www.wesart.com/free/rigtut/wesrig.html

For your question about mirroring the bones its
explaination is under point 12 in the tutorial.

Hope this helps

happy boning, Bob

Hi Kirl,

Is see you're using R7. In R8 this is really easy - MOCCA is here for a reason.

For R7, there's a DVD from Maxon that explains the rigging of a biped tiger. It's in German, but that shouldn't be a real problem: I speak Dutch just like you, and my German sucks, but I managed to understand it without any problem.

I can't find a link to the DVD, but I am sure your local reseller should be able to get one for you. Maxon will probably still have them in their stock. Or you could of course consider upgrading to R8 - it's really a great upgrade.

Cheers,
BaRa

there is no bone mirror for XL 7, and unfortunately my CD will likely not cover XL 7 specifically, but all the HARD IK setup will apply still. things liek the sliders and upvecotr won't be possible.

Thanks all, very helpfull stuff...

I'll defenatly check out the tutorial tomorrow (it's kinda late  ) looks like it'll answer most (if not all) of my remaining questions on bones.

I'll also have a look for the dvd; I was just thinking about animating a cat through one of my scenes.

When I'm ready to spend money, I make the update and order the rigging cd, SK seems to be awesome.

Thanks alot guys!
