Uplift Universe - Image Entry: Matthew Masterson

I must admit that I have never read the series, so I’ve been doing a little research online. I picked one of the books called “The Uplift War.” Were Robert Oneagle leads Neo-Chimps and they engage in guerilla warfare against the Gubru. If I’m wrong, please set me straight, but until then this is what I’m going to base my painting around. Here is a few sketches showing my process of understanding some of the characters I want to paint. For the time frame, I don't think I'll go into a battle scene, so I'm thinking the painting will be focus around the characters themselves.

Starting the concept sketches, here is one of them that I'm some what happy with. Very classic illustration style. C&C is always welcome.

Have not had much time to work on this, but will give this my best shot to finish this challenge. Here is another idea I had, I like to go with a classic illustration. C&C is always welcome.
