View Full Version : Moving the maya user directory?
victor 05-08-2003, 06:24 PM Is there a way to move the maya folder that contains user preferences and stuff (the one that is in the "My Documents" folder)?
Is there somewhere that I can specify a different location?

there sure is by changing some of the environment variables. (like the user home and so on)
but they are used by other apps as well..
so if you change them only do it in the command shell that calls maya.
but usually i would not try doing that as long as there is no real reason for it..
it is likely to mess more things up than make better..

Thanks, but that's not what I mean. I know that My Documents is a system folder, and I know how to move that (mine is actually my d: drive mounted at c:\stuff), but Maya will always put its settings into whichever folder is specified as My documents.
I was just hoping that there was some way to tell just Maya to use a specific path other than the user's documents folder.
