Title: Hyundai Accent
Name: Olivier Thériault
Country: Canada
Software: 3ds max, Maya, mental ray, Photoshop

BarXSeven aproched me to work on a Accent that was already done by somebody else but it needed a lot of fixing to be accepted by it's client: Hyundai. The whole car was full of triangles and had no low res cage. I ended up remodeling about 97% of the car in 3dsmax with a cleaner mesh.

After having done all the rectifications on the car and giving the model back to BarXSeven, I decided to work on it more and make some nice renders of it. I ended up remodeling a lot of ithings after (wheels, mirrors, backlights, etc) to have it ready for rendering. The interior was done by another company (I don't know who)

I used mental ray as the rendering engine for this project. I used the car shader of MR but not the way it was "intended" to be used. I took the first layer of reflection (the one with the flakes). I didn't want those flakes so I droped the flake_strength to zero making it a perfecly clear coating. And I changed the glossiness of the second layer. That way I had the blurry and the clear reflections.

I used a spot light with very soft shadows and a skylight with a plan color. For the reflections I used the hdr "balkon_evening_02_750" found on:

I hope you like this project. C&c are welcome!

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I know, I'll need to make better textures to make it look real. ...And other render tests.

I'll have to wait for my motherboard to come back to make the changes.

olivier,
Thanks for the kind words on our Lotus post. Models like the one you have here take more skill than many people realize. Keep up the good work you're doing with models like this. Also I'd love to see a wireframe of the new mesh you've made.
