Hi there, I don't use AE that much, usually just to cut together a new demo reel with footage from my last project. I recently bought a laptop with vista installed and have been using that to replace my old machine. Using AE seems to work ok, except for some reasion I can't import files into my composition, however dragging these files from a windows explorer does work. So for importing a shot I have to line up each frame back to back instead of just importing the files as footage. Anyone know a way to fix this problem other than downgrading to xp?

What version of AE? Only CS3 is qualified for Vista. You will not get any official support whatsoever for previous versions on that platform. You might improve matters slightly by enabling a compatibility setting on the executable, but that's as good as it gets.

the version I'm using is 6.5, and it seems functional just can't seem to import footage properly. I can get the files into my project, just not as a string. Is it at all possible to grab the list of individual jpegs from my footage folder and convert them into a footage file (after they are already in the program)

You could try using the smart import script that comes with AE (assuming you are on Professional and can even run them). Beyond that you should seriously consider upgrading to CS3. Things might look okay right now, but you will be guaranteed to run into more serious problems at some point.

Simply open Quicktime and select File>Import Sequence. Select the first frame of your sequentially numbered animation and it will do the rest.
