Hello

I am gonna try to do some walk exercises through out the week. I am just trying out one today, mostly made up but looked at jason ryan and animator survival kit for some reference. It is a sneak walk. I have never tried a lot of different walks before so I think it will be good to practice. During the week I will shoot video for reference to try to get natural walks.

The most obvious problem in that walk is that when his foot touches the ground as he steps, his leg isn't fully extended, and then in the next few frames his leg fully extends giving his knee a weird little bounce. It also looks like you didnt put much thought into how the arms should move. Decent attempt though. Looking forward to more of your efforts.

The leg problem is because I moved back the hips and curved the back more in an attempt to add anticipation like jason ryan does. I will try it without moving the hips back and see how that looks.

It is true I was totally lost on the arms. I will have a better Idea when I shoot some footage.

Well, my camera was busted so couldnt do any footage today, but was under warranty and it is being fixed :)

I did a run cycle from animators survival kit today, its better than my sneak i think:

Might I suggest animating it in place so we can just watch the looping file continuously. It's much easier to watch and critique. Not to mention that you called it a run cycle, yet its not a cycle.

Looks good though.

I'll do my next ones in place, this doesnt look as smooth as the moving one, i moved the hips exactly on the center axis in side and front view but still doesnt look as smooth as if i did it as a cycle from the get go though. I should learn how to put a cycle on a path in messiah now anyways :)

This one was tough. I did it from animators survival kit but didnt like how it worked out just from his poses so did a lot of tweaking to it.

Its kinda funny how Im the only one commenting, but trust me, lots of people are watching. You're just kind of at a middle ground of skill where it's kind of hard to make a quick critique without thinking about it for a few moments.

This last one is really good for the most part, however, I think that you could still make it better. When the backleg lifts off the ground, it lifts off while bent. This is wrong because the back leg needs to be the power that is pushing him off the ground, so it definitely needs to be straight and jump him off the ground. I'm surprised you missed this since you have that great straight leg as he lands.

Keep up the practicing and you'll keep improving :)

Gonna do a little modeling today I think. I want to make some kind of generic character like animation mentor but want it to be my design. I don't want my whole demo reel to be a frog lol.
