Hey guys,

quick question - just wondering if there's a way to paint a glow map and have a glow just in some areas of the texture....

Yes there is a way, make a duplicate of your material and add it on top of the first and then add an alpha and a glow to the second material, the alpha channel controls where the glow goes. Here is a simple example just using the checker shader in the alpha channel.
