View Full Version : RfM Render layers with passes

Hello I'm having some trouble using maya's render layers with Renderman's Passes and Outputs.

I have several maya render layers, holding one light from the scene each. I'd like each layer to render several renderman outputs (ambient, diffuse, reflection... ). So, for example, an image would have the diffuse contribution just from that one light etc.

The scene renders the renderman passes only for the masterlayer; the other layers just get a single final beauty pass.

Anyone have this problem?

Sorry I really have very little knowlege about this but it seems from what I have learnt about RfM (today) would the renderpass workflow not suggest that you need to make custom sets and define those as objects to render as a custom render pass? Maybe another way to approach this rather than mixing maya render layers into the brew.

Sorry I couldn't be more help :(

Thanks revilo3d, what you describe makes good sense. I'd love to know how to use light sets and object sets but I have had no luck with them :( For the time being i've hacked it togther with a pre-render mel script which just hides the lights it doesnt want.

Thanks for the reply!
