These renders showcase a custom BMW M3 modeled by, and commercially available at 3D02.com (http://www.3d02.com) --- Let me say it again - I didn't model the car.

I've constructed the background elements and composed the scene in 3D Studio MAX 5.1 As part of the texturing process I created a complex multi-layer, raytraced paint material that IMHO really captures the metalic silver well. Rendered with raytraced HDRI reflections and fake global illumination using Skyraider3d's E-light maxscript. (Thank you Skyraider :applause: ) I had a lot of fun with the puddles, even though they added significantly to the render time. These was rendered in several passes (one taking over 7.5 hours on a dual 2.0GHz Xeon box!) and composited in Photoshop.

Car looks sweet man, I like the rims and body kit as well. Nice attention to detail. THe only critiques I see are the HDRI looks a little funk, maybe try a higher resolution map? And also the back taillights look sorta strange... are those just flat texture maps? If they are I would model them out.

But it looks sweet, good work.

Yeah the taillights still aren't right. What I tried was having curved reflectors behind a colored transparent (mapped) surface. I imagine that with a fully accurate ray tracing illumination routine you could achieve the realistic effect I had hoped for. Ultimately I ended up overworking the area in Photoshop, trying to get the right look.

I cant even imagine modelling the prismatic elements in these rather complex taillights - any suggestions?

Nicely done, the environment looks blurry though

I've been working on an M3 myself the past 4 and a half months, so consider that my credential when I say the front end is way off. Mainly the kidney grills, which are too boxed in your model, and the part of the hood where the kidney grills are is far too wide. Actually there are many place that are not accurate on your model, BUT, yours is a custom version after all, so I guess that's pretty irrilevent  However the kidney grills do look funky, custom or not.

The car paint material is ace, and the puddles on the ground are a nice touch (I like how the cement around the puddles is a little darker from being wet, superb!) although the puddles have too much height, which makes them look a little like goo.

Overall, I like it!

Oh my gawd, that is so dang sweet!

I like the...shiny-ness! The reflection in the puddle adds so much to it, GREAT JOB!:applause:
