View Full Version : Problem modeling letter "a"
belly80naz 05-08-2003, 11:31 AM Hi guys, I'm a novice in Maya and I'v got some problem to modeling a letter "a": I used the Create->text tool and create two curves that form the "a", I select these 2 curves and make a bevel plus on its, but the face on top of the letter haven't the hole inside.:D Why? Have someone the solution? Or I must delete this face and redo all faces by hand?
My result is explain in figure.

Never used Bevel-Plus.
But it that cases, search for a "Partial" option

I would use NURBS to make that logo with and then perhaps convert to polys...
Try this...look around there...he has a video also.... (http://www.digital-tutors.com/digital_tutors/maya/t_maya_modeling_text.htm)

i would really not recommend using nurbs for a text object since you will always get into troubles closing the caps, which is not for using bevel plus, since it is closed polies..
concerning your problem:
it looks like there is indeed a problem with the character "a" you are using there - especially when looking to the right bottom side..
try changing the values for the bevel a bit and see if the error goes away then.
which font are you using?
cheers

I used a "GoudyExt-Normal-Italic" font for my a but every other letter, (like "t","g", or "e") the bevel-plus settings works very fine for me, but in the "a" letter no. However I've just delete the face and I've re-created the faces by hand. In this mode I can know more well the polygon tools. :arteest:
Thanks to all
