Hello!

This is my second challenge and I am pretty excited. However, the subject is kinda out of my "comfort zone" haha so it will definetly be a challenge!

At the moment I am messing with ideas. Exploring, speed painting, experimenting, seeing what happens. I have no real idea of where I am going to go with this challenge yet, whether to make a cartoony illustration, or push myself and try something more serious and realistic.

Also, I am very unfamilar with the book series mentioned. I am not a huge fan of sci-fi! So I am unsure yet whether I will research the "Uplift" series, or concentrate my time on making something unrelated to it.

More sketches to come soon, cheers!

This is a quick sketch to visualise the theme I think I have decided on. I am going to go along the lines of humans worshipping an alien being as a god. I know - it looks like a jelly fish! I thought it would look cool. Still messing with ideas. More coming soon. Ken :D

Interesting lighting... I like the bright blue with the dim reddish-brown.

you've got great skill, jellies are all good, they have a natural propensity to look alien anyhoo, especially with their bio luminescence ..

your gorilla is quite striking, loving the colours :D.

Cool idea, and yeah, jellyfish are soo alien. My suggestion would be for some of the humans to take off their hoods, to show that they are humans? It could be another race of aliens under that hood ^^

Ivy00: thanks Ivy :)

Pegahoul: Thanks! And yeh good advice. I need to make sure the audience knows they are human. This is just a rough idea sketch the now. Thanks for the advice!

Hi everyone, been neglecting my thread for a while, Ive been pretty busy with work, socialising and getting my wisdom teeth removed! haha but I am getting back into this competition now.

I have my idea so now I am beginning to explore the visuals. This is some alien concepts. At the moment it looks fairly generic and demonish, I will probably try and move into another direction with it, maybe linking back to the jellyfish idea.

More to come soon.

Kenneth,

WOW! Love all the sketches, they look all great! I like the new priest concept though the colors are good to reflect power in his personality, and I also think his role it’s easy to relate for an alien relationship after all his work field it open to many things possible! Keep it up! And hope to see more from you I enjoy lots your "strange behaviour' entry! I'll be here to support the always good works from you ! :D

Hi everyone - well a quick update on my challenge - I have been very busy and distracted recently, and unable to work on this at all! I was ready to throw in the towel, but reading the encouragement here, maybe I should make one last stab at getting something finished, even if its not to the standard I would hope. SO, I think I will try and get something up there! Thanks to all for the words of encouragement.

Andyjones: Thanks for the kind words!

Handlebar: Cheers!

Buffichar: Thanks! Im not sure where I was going with it either haha

AxelAlonso: Thanks for the kind words Axel! It is very encouraging to hear from you, and may in fact help spur me into action! Glad you liked my strange behaviour also. I will try my best to continue with this challenge!

Sasquatch: Thanks Brad! That truely is a compliment saying it has a Del Toro feel - that makes me happy haha. cheers!

Nwiz: Thanks mate! :D

Hello!

Im finally getting back on track. My initial idea was to go down the epic path, but when I doodled this I felt a more up close approach was visually stronger. So, I am developing the idea of the human priests who rely on the alien being to "uplift" them into new spiritual awareness. Still working out the story, but basically, the humans are worshipping the alien being as a god.

Hi Kenneth,

I like this new composition, witch I am sure its work in progress already! Coz he have little time now! Haha…we will finish it I hope... :thumbsup:Back to your idea with the “Alien God”. I think helps lots they way you add the perspective but he looks a bit scary , so maybe I understand a bit of that also in his face, then again , fear does make people do crazy things as blindfold religious freaks! Hahaha! So that could be also the point!:wise:
