its an ( Omani Khanjer ) 1st of all u may dont know where is Oman ... "" Saltunate of Oman"" is in Arabian Gulf next to UAE "Dubai" ... lets go back to our Khanjer ... in short words Khanjer is an Omani souvenir .. there are lot of type of Khanjers but the basic shape is the same..

i did this scane in 3ds Max 9 and Vray .. and some tweaking in Photoshop

Hey Ash,
The image looks quite good, especially on the modeling side, however I have two notes:
-Lighting: you've gone probably for the back light look, but I think its position made the shadow near invisble and conveyed a sense of flatness to the whole image, this approach is good for the specualrity of the image in general but I think an approach like this might be more favorable:

-Is it me or the tip / lower part of the holder is inside the clothing, and if the box contained the dagger why those bands actually extend outside the box? and I think you probably twisted the side a bit too much the angle in specific in regards to it's length, here's the dagger from Oman's Coat of Arms:

But I think it's a very good oriental piece overall and good work and 3 stars from me.
