Think I may be leaning towards the first one....

I'm thinking I should do this in 3D, I need to really imrpove my work so I think this would be an interesting challenge for me.

Well finally got around to working out the composition a bit while also working in a little detail in the foreground. Originally I wanted to do this in 3d but once I started to model the characters I felt as though the process was a little mechanical and less organic so I shifted towards painting it instead.
All the little buildings sketched out in the mid ground will be more futuristic compared to what I've indicated, I need to do some research first :)
Any constructive ideas, thoughts, and advice, are more than welcomed!

Thanks

Hey Wendell, nice concept and interesting approach to the concept. Like your perspective view. Maybe the alien need to bee more on to the upper right part of your image, only a comment :) Again, nice work! Cheers mate

Okay so getting my light source together, as I begin to detail the mountain area as well as the "mother ship". I also think that shifting the lead predator to the right will help the composition a bit "thanks" for that!

Finally getting the puzzle together.

Not as much detail as needed but far better than when I started.

I really like the style you showoff in the closeups: nice overlayed textures and a sort of 'flat painting style with concept-art sort of shading'. Things like the boys face and the tube have a very clear style - it even reminds me of the concept-art that was done for Pixar's 'The Incredibles'! (flat painting style, hard shadow and -highlight parts, and detailed textures)

It's sad that the full-version doesn't immediately showoff those details - I think you should find a way to show that same style in the whole picture! Maybe with a combination of a texture overlay and extreme colorcorrection?

A little point of crtic: the spaceship seems to be lacking perspective. Maybe it's because the building is in front of it (on the bottom of it) - now it looks a bit twisted. By distorting it a bit it might look better?

All the best! I'll be following you! ;)

I like your points, can you explain your idea of the color correction, I feel your right I just need to know how I apply what your saying to the over all peace.

Thanks and feel free to point things out it will only make ne better.

The Last Hope:
“Are you ready?” “Yes, I think so”… “There isn’t much time left, ready your weapon.” “But …But what if” ... “No, there isn’t time for that now, history stands a chance of repeating itself… this mustn’t happen again.”

“AAAHHH!!!” “NOOOO!”

- As the enemy approach many coward in fear, many turned and ran while their homes and families were obliterated leaving behind only ashes and fire consumed in darkness. Yet again history has repeat itself and even those who stood up against the once allied enemy haven fallen along with the structures that created their prosperous colony. Nothing exists now.
