Title: Airship Station
Name: Stefano Tsai
Country: United Kingdom
Software: 3ds max
Thank so much for everyone's support in WIP forum. You gave me so many very good ideas and encouragement.Especially from Kad, you gave me so many professional opinions and your cg works' colors and lighting bring me so much inspiration. You are the Man :D
This image was my dream. I really hoped I can make some images about the factory of sci-fi airship in the future when I was a kid. the image gave me so much fun to make it from the rough draft. Try to imagine I am a engineer :D
I used 3dmax to model these objects and brought it into Photoshop for adjusting colors and adding smoke's FX.

C&C are super welcome, and Thanks a lot again for all of your support from WIP forum.
Special Thanks again to Kad, Krzysztof, Lars and Garath for your support.

Lovely image, and a really vivid color palette!
But that guy in the chair is going to really regret not having a guard rail behind him if he stands up too fast...

Excellently crafted piece of work here! Really well done!
I, too, am concerned about the lack of railing behind the seated tech! Yikes!!

Lovely amount of detail, great composition, and I love the color palette you went with. The only things that jump out at me are the posing of the man in the background: It could stand to be a bit more dynamic. It also feels to me that the far back wall is too smooth... It feels too clean and untextured.
In any event, nice work...! Plugified.

Cool!
I have one crit. The guy standing right in the middle of the picture waving his arm, doesn´t have enough detail. Since the composition make the eye want to go just where he is, I figured that you should have made him muched more detailed. No he looks just "flat".
Anyways, great job! :

Hey there,
Great piece! Congrats on the front page!
Like someone else said, the character in the bg with his hands spread out could have been posed more dynamically. Also, I guess you let everything be in deep focus as a matter of choice. Excellent detail and very appropriate mood and lighting!:thumbsup:

Really amazing and inspiring work. Everything works perfectly - lighting modelling and colours... Just detail of girl on the left leaves a bit of bad taste.
But anyway please give us more artworks like this and even better :).
take care.

Great image, my only crit is that the woman in the foreground looks a bit lowpoly. I'd expect to see some of the folds affect her silhouette, at the moment they look like normalmaps. However, I love the crazy ammount of detail you've put in there as well as the lighting :)

Wow! Thank you so much for so many replies and so many nice opinions that help me a lot
About not having a guard rail behind the engineer, that really makes me have alot laughs :D
I didn't feel he has a hazardous job until Luckbat found his situation:applause:
Don't worry, I will go to tell someone to weld the legs of the chair and make sure it can't be moved.
ps.Thanks a lot for finding an inside joke, Eli A :D you are good, Mate :D

Nice to see this image finally finished! Great work Stefano! The modeling is amazing, and I think you reached a new “skill milestone” with this image. The way you handled values and colors is different from your usual work displayed on your website!

Amazing, crazy detail. I love all the riveted metal bits, and the analogue gauges on the far right give it a bit of a retro look.
My only crit is that the guy's station looks a bit modern compared to the rest of the scene -- it might have been cool if you hade made it a bit 50's-60's looking. This is just my 2 cents (I've probably been playing too much Bioshock) -- 5 stars from me.

Thanks a lot for so many lovely replies and powerful encouragement, everyone:scream:
About wire frames, that is a bit crazy, no problem. I will show the main ship's polys later, I spent most of polyons there..hehe!
To carlg: I agree with you, that is right. I focused too much on the steam stuff, then Forgot the time, I thought they need some heavy machine with steam.that is really good opinions, Man! Cheers :D
To ilusiondigital: unfortunately, I am too lazy..I will just stay in Still image for now. Thanks, my friends :D
To Ceetwo: uh..no...there is no any normal map here..Pure polyons' models.
To Fred: Wow..Wow...That is Super Fred :D Thanks a lot for coming, Buddy! You are the Man always. we will have meeting again tomorrow..so scary!
To Guillaume: I miss you , my friend :D Thanks so much! you are the master of atmosphere, these scenes you had done for 300, ..just so nice...I have to learn the way you light the scene, buddy : ) we should have some talking in MSN in weekend time.

Hi,
Below is the wireframes of part of the scene :)
They are really heavy for my old video card.

This is a great image, very dramatic.
I just want to point out one thing. Vehicle manufacturing facilities are extremely well lit. I've worked at Boeing's Rotorcraft assembly plant for 25 years in Creative Services. The recent modernizations to the rotorcraft factory have included near daylight lighting throughout the assembly area. Most Boeing Co. assembly areas are lit in this manner. I doubt if this trend will change in the future.
I'd love to see a render of this same scene with that more prosaic lighting. It would be great to see if you could approach the same level of drama with a more accurate to the real world lighting environment.
