i assume you yourself will

A. buy software to do this, and put it on DVD yourself.

or

B. pay someone to do it for you.

in either option I think that either a manual or the transfer guy could tell you this.

personally I am not sure as you can turn home movies into DVD's successfully. It probibly jsut dpeends on the quality you want.

i think its just 720*486 with a .9 pixel aspect ratio. standard NTSC resolution. if you want to render square pixels, you can render 720*540, then squash it down in post.

the ntsc-format is 720x480 and
the pal-format is 720x576

to avoid flickering in your textures (especially with writing on things) you will want to turn all your textures to sat-mapping and use 'best' and 'animation' for AA

i normally render tif-sequences and cut them together in AE. it will give you huge files, but the best quality possible

what system are you on? mac or pc? (if you're on a mac, i might be able to give you a few hints with producing your m2v-stream for the dvd)

I'm doing the same thing as we speak.

I am rendering in C4d with 720 X 486 and bringing it into after Effects, remembering interpretation and using .9 ratio. I need the final output at 720 X 480. Do I need to squeeze this manually in AE?

oh yeah, i forgot it was only 480... i'm not sure about this, but i think dvd players just don't show those extra 6 pixels(since they are well outside of the safe are anyway as opposed to streatching the image... so i would just crop your renders in after effects. either way, you aren't going to see those 6 pixels on a tv, and if you crop, you will avoid having to re-scale your image
