This is a design I did quite a long time ago, when I took Kung-Fu and I wanted to do the oriental dragon design with a bit of my flare. Anyways, I'm debating on updating this a bit, finishing it and coloring it.

What do you think?

Me likes! :bounce:

Please update. And if you do, I'd like to see an "normal" dragon's head.

I really like your drawing style, very nice drawing :applause:

A few comments though:

As your intention was to draw an oriental dragon, i agree with dark-angel. Oriental dragons are usually snake like, no arms (just very short ones), very long tail, and short legs. I also disagree with the bird-like mouth (with beard:cool: ).

To be quite clear, i think it's more like a monster you thought was under your bed when you were a kid:rolleyes: .

These are only comments on your intentions, no comments here on the drawing. I think the drawing is absolutely perfect. Nice style, gives the boogie-man feeling :p

keep it up m8

very cool character! , are you going to finish it fully?

Thanks for the replies people.

As far as the snake thing.. Yes, I'm aware oriental dragons are snake-like. I wanted him to have arms so he could have this kind of tai-chi "splitting the sparrows tail" kind of hand position. So thus I got kind of stuck on the lower body. Dragon-like snake lower body or a legs&tail kind of raptor look...

I think a tail would clash with the upper body..

I think I will finish this fully as soon as I decide.

i understand what you mean, but since its a dragon put some legs like minotaure haves and for the tail make it go in circles behind his back so he keeps his balance.

 NEAT! I like it a lot! The pose is cute! If you want it to be more fierce looking I'd add some razor sharp teeth, perhaps some drool...the way it is now, it's not threatening, just amusing ;) But in a good way! :applause:

I could totally see this thing being a basilisque. Leave the top as you have it and draw just a flat long snake body for it. Kinda like Gobulus from the G.I.Joe movie.

That dragon is really cool. I think you have excellent drawing skills. The only thing I would say is to make the bird-like mouth more reptilian with some nice looking teeth to go along with the claws. That's just my opinion though....I still think its great.

In the future man, relax 90 views and no comments is no excessive. Some go to 200 before people comment, and usually the only ones people really comment on are when they are posted on the front page, or when the artist says "why don't you people comment!!" (hmmm... ) :)

Thanks peeps. I'm gonna retrace what I've got so far and lightly do a snake vs. leg&tail look under what I've got, and decide what I like on that score.

I'll try filling his mouth with some teeth, but I kinda like the bird-beak look. I think teeth would make the head look less original.

Realistically, wouldn't it seem more feasible that a fire breathing creature would have NO teeth, as he would simply burn his own gums and teeth away over time? Anyways.. :) I'll work on this over the weekend and early next week and post the changes.

I like it alot
admittedly I have not read this entire thread...is it pencil and ink or photoshop?

looks great, I am a huge fan of fantasy and dragons...how bout some colors?

as far as burning his gums....did you see the way they handled the fire breathing in reign of fire...I understood it to work in a way that the dragon exhaled a gas and some how ignited it as it was blowing out in front of him in a cone.

Hey! You've got an excellent drawing started here...I really like the concept. I think you should finish it in whatever style you want, it's nice to see someone work their own twist into an old concept;)
Technically, I couldn't find anything to crit...looking forward to seeing an update:beer:
