Latest Update: Final Image: swimming together

I read many years ago Sundiver But still remember a scene where humans and dophins swimming together.. Human with an exoskeleton (i'm not sure that is the right term). Well.. this is my concept: human and dolphin swim into the silent ocean of other world..
the images are from a little old test motion, just for example.

bye.

And I like the idea. The only detail that needs thinkin over is the feet/tail. I mean if the tail is bent by the character's feet - it should be bent to opposite direction. Or maybe it is autonomous - then maybe it's worth to show some engine that accelerates and directs the exoskeleton?

uhm.. I imagined that the exoskeleton boost the human movement like a dolphin and for this reason I added to the model five little wing stabilizer, I think that is credible but I'm not a engineer!! Thanks for the post

Wauw... I'm really impressed... its a cool idea and a nice design, and your so fast!

only crit (this might be my lack of imagination tho):
I'm having some trouble imagining how her legs/hips are placed, ofcause the space for them is there. but if she leans her neck back like she does and her hip bends backwards aswell, wouldn't she be uncomftable. (when i look again, this only seems to be an issue on the latest image)
..again... I't might very well just be me :)

lucar
04-03-2008, 05:01 AM
@dharmaestudio: thanks Arturo, i'm glad to like my work (your aliens are fantastic!).

@pixemo: thanks!

@Giokr-2027: thank Angelo, it's a really fast render (half hour) for a fast visualization of a silly idea: I thought that aliens have problems with mice in the cellar, just like us! But it was only a pastime of the long-pending render of the dolphins.. 2565x3632 px it's really much expensive..
A presto.

the concept for people in a submarine cadget is good. Perhaps you need to change the dolphins with something coming from different planet to meet the chalenge terms. Be carefull with the body of the human, look over the proportions head-body!! I'm eager to see the final result....have fun with the chalenge.

Beautiful job lucar. Everything seems abt right. The only assistance I can offer is try changing the angle of that lit part on the lower left - (more horizontal to the viewers eye) instead of matching it to the surface angle. It might enhance depth more. Check it out and see if it works for ya

Bongiorno Gianluca!

Great work, mate! One critique though - the light: it seems that you have two light sources and the light is entering the water in an overly "geometrical" - perpendicular to the surface - it just doesn't look quite natural. Also the water surface could benefit if the disturbances (waves) of it were a bit bigger.

Thumbs up!

Cographicz
04-18-2008, 01:35 AM
yes the bubbles look very nice now and i also agree with HornlessUnicorn about the lights it does look like there is 2 suns, but the overall image is awsome, great work.

jeromoo
04-18-2008, 04:49 AM
That truly looks like a sci-fi magazines of old! :) I am very curious about how the dolphin pod actually works because it seems like it will bend the girl into extreme positions. So I assume that all pilots-to-be have to undergo serious acrobatic and yoga training. :)

On the crit side, the rays of light could be better. And you could add streams of bubbles behind the dolphins as they sped along in the water.

Overall, solid work!

@nmcelmury @bkeiser3d: thanks men!

@MartinNielsen: right.. I did not want a background too complex, thanks.

@HornlessUnicorn @Cographicz: I just put two suns deliberately, I think that will help to create an atmosphere alien.. But it is only my own assumptions. Thanks.

@jeromoo: ahah.. Really entertaining the idea of yogin pilots! Pilots of Pilates, may be?

@sasquatch70: I dont understand your question.. the cover is not the final image but only a great tribute to the science fiction of the past time.

About skin textures, I'd play more with internal lights. Try to put some little light, maybe green or blue, from the bottom to the top of the cockpit, light those lights that film actors have most of the time inside their spacesuits. Then you could raise a little bit the glass refraction.
Also you could model the finns on your machine so they have a more dolphinish look; if mothernature decided to give them finns like them maybe she's right... You could make the tail a little bitt longer. About the second little light on the left which is coming from above throught the water, I'd move it outside the camera field. You say you want 2 suns but you are offering and earth like environment. nothing is telling us this is not earth. So the 2 lights appear as a mistake when you set up your lights in your 3d software...
