Saw a tutorial somewhere regarding untriangulating (is that a real word) an object after boolean. Does anyone know where that tute may be?

TIA

How long ago did you read this tutorial? if it was was more than a month ago, its probibly not necessary. when better boolean came along things got much different.

Were you looking for the actual tute or just how to untriangulate (yeah that's right).

Just select the polys, go to structure, then untriangulate.

Still, Better Boole isn't perfect. Neither is Untriangulate for that matter. BB can still unnecessarily produce triangles where quads might fit just as well (ex. cube - cyl). Additionally, Untriangulate doesn't always complete its job. Sometimes, it's necessary to edge melt alternating edges in triangle strips to produce triangle shaped quads.

No tool is perfect though. You're right about the situation being better now.

yeah I think there are some problems with making an untrianulate function that actually works.

because it could easily start destroying your mesh.

hell better boole eats my mesh's too. so a wild untri feature might be pretty scary.

Thanks all for the replies. It was not long ago that I read the tutes, someone had instructions for 3 different methods posted.
I am working with R8, and have the better booles plug-in installed, but everytime I try it the program crashes.
I will continue to look for the tute. Thanks again.

Call maxon or email them, tell them about your problem cause better boole is a public beta. Meaning that they want to hear if it screws you up dude.
