Hey guys and gals, I'm working in XSI 3.0, and I've modeled a jacket which I want to apply cloth simulation to. However, when I apply cloth simulation (or soft body) to it then the poly's from the inside of the jacket crash through the poly's on the outside. It's really bugging me, and I was wondering if there's a setting somewhere which would make it stop crashing through itself? I tried a couple things but it would make the jacket less and less flexible...but I really want it to "flow" in the wind. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

If I am not mistaken somewhere in the ClothOp there should be a doublesided or self-collision setting that should help prevent that.

I dont know it off hand though.

Open ClothOp panel

go to Collisions menu

switch on active, accurate

set your thickness

go to Forces panel

give it some noise

Head on over to Ballistic Panda (http://www.ballisticpanda.com/) click on resources, theres a cloth tutorial in there that might be able to help you out...

I don't know what your cloth is like and don't know if you have already fixed the problem, but another alternative you might want to look at is the quick stretch deform operator, it calculates a LOT faster, the only problem I can find is that if your object has to move on the y there is no wind resistance simulation and as far as I know you can't apply forces to it.

good luck Jason
